CD/DVD Replication

Replication - the process of "stamping" your data into an injection molded disc. A glass master is used to develop a stamper and, in turn, is loaded into an Injection Molding machine that creates CD/DVD replicates. A layer of micro-thin aluminum is applied to the polycarbonate disc. It is then lacquered for additional protection and printed before packaging.

 

Advantages of CD/DVD Replication:

1. Unit production cost is lower than CD duplication, normally used for high volume, but also longer turn around time.

2. Offset printing and screen printing are available.

CD/DVD Duplication

Duplication - using a disc recorder to "burn" your data into a pre-manufactured write-once record-able discs (CD-R or DVD-R). Your music, video or data files are added by using a laser recorder. Duplication process is more cost effective for small number of disc as compared to replication process.

Advantages of CD/DVD Duplication:

1. Shorter turn around time, normally used for small volume.

2. Digital full color printing with no pre-press charges.

 

CD/DVD Printing

There different methods to print on the disc, and the most common way is offset printing, silk screen printing, inkjet printing and printed adhesive labels.
